GTA World
The biggest strict text-based roleplay community, now running on FiveM.
About
GTA World is different from almost every other server in this directory: it is a strict, text-based roleplay community. Instead of talking over voice chat, players write their actions and dialogue in chat, which suits people who prefer writing, who cannot use a microphone, or who are not native English speakers. It moved to FiveM in 2026 after years on RAGE:MP, and it is huge: its English server had around 800 players online on 15 October 2026, the busiest roleplay city we checked. The website claims over a million registered players. Because it is a strict server, expect a learning curve: you register an account, go through a tutorial on the user control panel, and are expected to follow detailed rules. GTA World runs servers for players in different languages as well as English. If you have tried voice RP and found it chaotic, or you just enjoy writing a character in detail, GTA World is in a class of its own. Voice chat is not required.
